One of the improvements we are seeking to make as part of the rooftop homes project will be the installation a fire suppression system to homes across the Lancaster Estate.

The Rooftop Development team will be holding a “Meet the Architect Drop-In” session on Thursday 23 September 2021 from 4pm to 7pm By Lingfield House and Play Area.

A marquee will be erected with representatives from the appointed Architects Gatti Routh Rhodes attending to take any questions and to respond to queries from residents regarding the proposal. Angela Ohen as the rooftop homes Project Manager for the scheme will also be in attendance.

Southwark Council are seeking to appoint a new architect to design the proposed new council homes on the Lancaster Estate. The council is looking for an architect who demonstrates excellence in both architectural quality and resident engagement.

We invited a range of high-quality architecture practices to submit expressions of interest for this work.

We believe that residents will bring a unique and vital perspective to the interview process, and so a member of the Lancaster Estate Tenant and Residents Association has been asked to participate in the interview process.

The project team will hold interviews with the architects on Friday 21 May. We will let you know which practice has been successful.

The Cabinet Member for Social Regeneration, Great Estates, New Council Homes considered the feedback received and has agreed for further development work to be carried out in order to provide for new council homes and wider improvements to your estate. We can now move to the next stage.

The next stage is about:

• further consultation with you

• advice from building consultants on the deliverability of the rooftop homes at 1-27 & 28-38 Lingfield House, Lancaster Street, London SE1 0RW; 1-15 Gibbings House, King James Street, London SE1 0DL and how it could be developed.
